Access Rules


All the datasets held by the BADC are available Free of Charge*, either through the World Wide Web (WWW) or the FTP interface. A disclaimer applies to all data from the BADC to limit liability.

Many of our datasets are publicly available and do not require registration. See the Dataset index for details of our dataset holdings, including whether the dataset is public or restricted (restricted datasets are marked with   Key icon))

Some of our datasets, however, have access restrictions placed upon them. This is because the data suppliers wish to monitor the use of their data and require an acknowledgement of the data source if they are used in any publication. Although restricted datasets are distributed under strict Conditions of Use, the data remains Free of Charge*.

Programme participants only during the restricted access period (usually one year after project completion or data submission)
Public afterwards but conditions of use apply (acknowledgement in publications, etc.)
